Welcome to Hampton Court English
My name is Simon Griffith, and together with my wife Carolyn we offer students the chance to live and study English in our home.
We are situated close to the river Thames and the beautiful royal palace at Hampton Court, famed for its association with King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I and a host of famous historical figures.

About Simon
After reading English at Cambridge University I studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before becoming a professional actor. As an actor I appeared in theatre productions across the UK and also worked in TV and radio. Writing as Simon Shaw, I published my first novel, Murder Out Of Tune, in 1988.
In addition to writing eight further books I have worked extensively as a journalist. I was Assistant Editor of The Week magazine in London for 14 years. I have also written for a number of other newspapers and magazines, and I regularly review books for The Mail On Sunday newspaper.
I have been working as a teacher since 2009 and I have a CELTA qualification from International House, London. I have taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to students across the full age range, from juniors to mature professionals. I have worked in a number of European cities, including Oslo, Brussels and Belgrade, specialising in the writing and delivery of courses covering meetings, negotiations, presentations and communication skills. I have also taught at business and language schools in London. For the past five years I have been a homestay teacher, welcoming guests to our home and combining intensive language teaching with stimulating social interaction and cultural excursions in and around the London area. My wife Carolyn plays a full part in organising and running these activities.
